Singapore University of Technology and Design Visit the University of Melbourne

The Provost, Professor Tow Chong, from The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and representatives from Contact Singapore visited The University of Melbourne on the 28 April 2016 as part of a Contact Singapore mission to recruit PhD Students to join them on their staffing complement. Meetings were arranged with University leadership, Professor Tom Kvan in Architecture, Building and Planning and the Melbourne School of Engineering to discuss opportunities for collaborations.

The SUTD was founded in 2009, and is the fourth autonomous university in Singapore. It was established in collaboration with, and modelled after the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Its curriculum focuses on multi-disciplinary learning and research, with emphasis on cohort learning.

SUTD offer undergraduate programs with focuses on Architecture and Sustainable Design; Engineering Product Development; Engineering Systems and Design; and Information Systems Technology and Design. It also offers a dual Masters program with MIT.

In addition to its collaboration with MIT, SUTD also collaborates with Zhejiang University, through research, student exchange, and developing five electives focusing on Chinese culture and history. SUTD also offers a Dual Degree Program with the Singapore Management University.
